Laurel Peterson, RN, CDE
Certified Diabetes Educator at Geary Community Hospital
FREE Monthly Diabetes Support Group 1st Thursday of each Month at 6 p.m. Medical Arts Building II, 3rd Floor Conference Room.
Being diagnosed with diabetes can be difficult, and management of the disease is absolutely necessary to prevent or delay the onset of its complications. You have to watch what you eat; you may have to exercise and lose weight; and you will have new medications. As the frequency of diabetes continues to grow in Geary County, knowledge of the disease, a full understanding of how it affects the body, and how to cope with the daily challenges of living with diabetes is vital.
Laurel Peterson, RN, Certified Diabetes Educator at Geary Community Hospital, can help you understand the disease and the body’s use of carbohydrates. Laurel is available for private, one-on-one appointments where she can show you what to do to manage your diabetes. She can also address your specific education needs and help you figure out how to tackle the diabetic challenges that you face.
You can reinforce your knowledge and diabetic living skills by attending the GCH monthly support group meetings. The support group is held at 6 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month. You can join Laurel, or a guest speaker, in the Medical Arts Building II, 3rd Floor Conference Room at Geary Community Hospital, as they address specific diabetic-related topics.
Laurel will visit with anyone living with diabetes. Just call 785-210-3344 for more information or to make an appointment for your one-on-one meeting. No referral needed.
